2ND SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT

On November 23 and 24, 2023, the 2nd Scientific Conference of the Physiotherapy Department entitled: “Modern approaches to Physiotherapy intervention” was held with great success, in the Amphitheater of the University of Peloponnese, in Sparta. At the end of the event, the first Graduation ceremony of our Department took place.

PARTICIATION IN CONFERENCE

The Physiotherapy Department of the University of Peloponnese participated in the 16th Panhellenic Scientific & Professional Nursing Conference (May 18 & 19, 2023, Kalamata)
both in a Chair and in two very interesting round tables with excellent Physiotherapy lectures by Assistant Professors Mr. Grilias Panagiotis, Mr. Christakou Anna and from the ESPA Teachers Mr. Andriopoulou Maria and Mr. Paraskevopoulos Eleftherios.
We would like to thank the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the Conference for the invitation to participate. We hope to future collaborations, aiming on highlighting multidisciplinarity in the rehabilitation of patients!

HIGH SCHOOL VISIT

On April 6, 2023, at the University of Peloponnese in Sparta, where the Departments of Physiotherapy and Sports Organization & Management are based, we had the pleasure of welcoming teachers and 3rd Grade students from the General Lyceum (High School) of Gytheio.
The students were given a tour of the University premises (rooms, library, laboratories), they were informed by professors about the history and identity of the University, its operation, the academic subjects and the professional perspectives of the Departments, the activities – actions – conferences that are carried out by the Departments with the participation of students or in collaboration with other Universities.
The dissemination of information through the briefing-presentation and the questions of the students who are on the threshold of Higher Education, was particularly constructive.
At the end of the visit, informative brochures, souvenirs and treats were given to the students.
We warmly thank the professors, students and the Head of Gytheio General Lyceum Mrs. Panagiota Menega who visited the Departments of the University of Peloponnese located in the Prefecture of Lakonia, as well as professors Antonia Marazioti, Panagioti Grilia from the Department of Physiotherapy and Andreas Papadopoulos from the Department of Sports Organization & Management, as well as the Secretariats of the Departments for the tour and the information to our visitors.

INFORMATION DAY FROM THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION OF LAKONIA

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), the Association of Disabled Persons of Lakonia, in partnership with the Center for Child & Adolescent Education ‶Exelixi″ and the participation of the Physiotherapy Department of the University of Peloponnese held an awareness day for parents, teachers, students and citizens of of our local society on the topic: “I am informed about the rights of children with disabilities in the context of school and society”. The informative speech took place on December 7, 2022 and was framed by expert scientists and representatives of each organization with the aim of raising awareness, information and better inclusion in the school and local society.

1st SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF THE PHYSICAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT – NOVEMBER 30, 2022

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the scientific conference on “Physiotherapy in the Modern Scientific World” was held in the Amphitheater of the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life, within the Department of Physiotherapy, in the building of the University of the Peloponnese in Sparta.

CEREMONY OF AWARDING THE HONORARY DOCTORATE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL THERAPY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PELOPONNESE, TO PEER PROFESSOR OF EXPERIMENTAL PHYSIOLOGY Mr. MICHAIL KOUTSILIERIS – SEPTEMBER 22, 2022

Following a decision of the Temporary General Assembly of the Department of Physiotherapy, the Emeritus Professor of Experimental Physiology of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, Mr. Michael N. Koutsilieris, was announced Honorary Doctor of the Physiotherapy Department of the University of Peloponnese, on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 7:30 p.m., in the Auditorium of the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life Sciences.
The public praise (Laudatum) was delivered by Professor Maria Tsironi, President of the Physiotherapy Department. This was followed by a rebuttal by the honored Professor Mr. Michael Koutsilieris with the title: “The molecular imprint and the mechanisms mediating the action of therapeutic exercise in chronic diseases in humans”.

SPARTATHLON

SPARTATHLON is an ultra-distance race starting from Athens and ending in Sparta, in the footsteps of the ancient racer Pheidippides. The Department of Physiotherapy of the University of Peloponnese, voluntarily participated in the event, with students offering physical therapy interventions to the athletes, under the guidance of the Department’s professors.
